Elaina was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  She was adopted at birth by her lovely family in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and luckily, there was a piano in the house.  She began to play as soon as she could reach the keys, and started with lessons soon afterward.  Soon afterward she also began to study guitar, voice, and be involved in musical theatre as a pianist and actress.  She went on to double major in Music and Drama at Ithaca College.

At Ithaca, in addition to classical music studies, she continued to be active in musical theatre by acting, performing in and teaching improv theatre, accompanying and coaching singers, composing music for new shows, music directing shows, and writing songs for her own band, A Band of Crazy Bohemians, which incorporated ecclectic styles of music with humor, political satire, and performance art.

After college, Elaina began to work professionally in the field of musical theatre with youth groups, in Off-Broadway productions, private coachings and lessons with singer/actor/musicians, sight-reading in professional auditions, writing music for shows, teaching and directing in Equity summer stock theatres, and as a musical director, pianist, and guitar player with the national touring companies of SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL, 42ND STREET, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, and JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.  She worked as a private vocal coach for musical theatre majors at Pace University and music directed and played in their productions there as well.  She was also the musical director for two ARTBridge productions, in which she and a director traveled to Guatemala to mount Broadway-style productions with all-Guatemalan casts.  Elaina also began to study the music of her homeland, Brazil, and began performing sets of bossa nova and samba wherever she could.

Elaina earned a Master of Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago in 2011.  She now lives in Philadelphia, PA, where you can see her perform live at Howl at the Moon at 258 S. 15th St. in Center City in their dueling pianos show.  Go to www.howlatthemoon for more info!
